Award Categories
- Interdisciplinary Research Award – Recognizes PhD students or teams working across disciplines.
- Lab Collaboration Award – Celebrates activities that successfully bring multiple labs together (for example labs that organized deep dives).
Interdisciplinary Research Award:
Depth of cross-discipline integration:
- How effectively does the research combine different disciplines?
- Is there clear evidence of expertise from multiple fields being applied?
- Does the research create new methodologies, frameworks, or insights that wouldn't be possible within a single discipline?
Potential for real-world application:
- Does the research have practical applications in industry, healthcare, or society? Or is there a plan or potential for knowledge transfer?
- Are there partnerships or collaborations with external stakeholders?
Scientific Impact and Innovation:
- How does the research contribute to advancing knowledge in AI or its applications?
Lab Collaboration Award:
Impact on multiple labs or external stakeholders?
- Did it lead to joint research outputs (e.g., publications, projects, demos, even a policy report could have an impact for external stakeholders)
Quality of collaboration
- How many labs were involved
- How was the collaboration structured
- Did the collaboration enable meaningful exchange of expertise, tools, or resources, were different perspectives integrated effectively
Sustainability and scalability of the collaboration?
- For example, if it is a deep dive did it lead to further collaboration like a paper or a report?
- Are there mechanisms in place to sustain the partnership
Award Ceremony
The winners will be announced at an ICAI day on October 29th.
The prize will include:
- A €500

Submit a short application (max 1 page or a short video) addressing:
- Project Description – What interdisciplinary or collaborative work was done?
- Impact – How did this work benefit research, industry, or the community?
- Lessons Learned – What insights or best practices emerged?
